HVAC Product Review Criteria

  • Recommendation

This is self explanatory. Using the rating scale of 1 to 5 would you recommend this equipment to your friends and family based on your overall experience with this particular brand of HVAC product or manufacturer. Again, be fair for a quality review. Quality reviews help people make better, informed decisions on the purchase of HVAC equipment and products.
  • Equipment Installation

Did the installing contractor do a good job of installing the new HVAC equipment? Was the unit installed on time on the schedule the contractor promised you? Does it look like a quality installation? For the editor reviews, its difficult for us to rate this appropiately so we use different criteria factors for rating. These criteria factors are based on the manufacturers available factory training for its dealers based on our personal experience.
  • Quality of Equipment

Using a rating scale of 1 to 5 rate the quality of the equipment. Does the system look good and look like it has rugged contruction? Is it aesthetically pleasing to look at and is it quiet when it is running? If you are completely satisfied with all of the above then you should the HVAC equipment a 5. If not completely satisfied be fair and use your best judgement for a quality review.
  • HVAC Reliability

Using a scale of 1 to 5 rate the reliability of the HVAC equipment since it was installed and the HVAC contractor told you the installation was finished.  Has the  HVAC equipment purred like a kitten since it was installed or have you had to have it repaired?  How frequently have you had to have it repaired? Dig out repair records if necessary for quality reviews.
  • HVAC Efficiency

Using the rating scale of 1 to 5 rate the efficiency of the new HVAC equipment. How much have you save on your power bill since the new HVAC equipment was installed. If you observed a significant decrease in utility bills related to the operation of the HVAC equipment then you should give the new equipment a rating of 5. Be as precise as possible for quality reviews of the HVAC Equipment.

Hello Richard,

We wanted to thank you so much for your advice in the Buyers Guide. My husband and I didn't know where to start when it cam time to replace our equipment. We came across your website and reluctantly purchased the subscription. Now we are glad we purchased it and know your advice and the resources you provided us with saved us a lot of money..............more than the cost of the subscription. The subscription more than paid for itself by making us an informed consumer. We appreciate the advice and your service......keep up the good work!

Richard,

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! It's the first time I have made a major purchase and actually knew more about the equipment than one of the salesman who came to pitch us on one of the brands I selected following your research advice. My husband was flabbergasted with my knowledge about our purchase and how I handled it. I still haven't told him where I got my information! My husband told me that I will be handling all the major purchases from now on. This subscription service empowers buyers and helps them save money. Great job and thank you!

I had a 12 SEER Goodman Heat Pump installed about a year and a half ago and noticed an immediate drop on my monthly electric bill from the old unit which was a Janitrol. The contractor did a fabulous job installing the unit and upgraded my back-up heat to provide more heat on those rare occasions when it gets really cold outside.
