Carrier HeatPumps Reviews Hot

Carrier Heat Pumps

Carrier produces heat pumps with efficiency ratings up to 9.5 HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor). They also produce heat pumps that use R-22 refrigerant or R-410A refrigerant. Carrier currently uses three different names to describe their heat pump system and these names include Infinity Series (usually top line high efficient models), Performance Series (Mid range middle efficiency models), and the Comfort Series which can be best descibed as builders grade units and this Comfort Series offers efficiency ratings from the lower end to mid range.

The Carrier Infinity heat pump has been a great heat for me and my family. The system was installed about 9 months ago so we have been able to use it for cooling and heating and it has done a great job and my electric bill is about half of what it was from the old Carrier system that was installed many years ago by the original owner of the house. I recommend Carrier to you and all mt friends for a good air conditioning and heating system.

I love my new carrier heat pump and air conditioning system. Carrier Infinity is quiet and keeps me and cats cozy in the winter and cool in the summer.

I paid a lot of money for this new Carrier Heat Pump system and the contractor has had to come back three time for a refrigerant leak and to replace the fan in the condenser. I switched contractor and hopefully they have finally repaired the leak. I don't know for sure but I do know I've had it with this new Carrier heat pump system.

Carrier equipment versus R 22 changeover support
written by Chris, April 29, 2009
I have a Carrier heat pump installed in 1986. It still runs quite well. There is a slow freon leak that has not been found but requires periodic (maybe once a year) fill ups of coolant.

Currently trying to get info on R 22 alternatives for this system. Local dealers all want to sell me whole new system using the newer refrigerant. Wanting Carrier's feedback, I called the company directly. They have no[/] consumer info whatsoever regarding this major shift. All they could do was try to send me back to a dealer. By contrast, I do see that other manufacturers have created consumer literature for this coming change. So while I celebrate my grand old equipment that keeps on chugging, shame on the company for not helping educate and assist consumers who have their products to deal with the R 22 phaseout.

Carrier has published literature about the elimination of R-22 because I have seen it. Shame on the rep that you talked to for not doing his job. Now, lets cut to the chase - They will still manufacture R-22 until 2020, but no manufacturer can make equipment using R-22 after Dec. 31, 2009.The unit has given you 23 years of good service. Replace the unit with a new, energy efficient system using R-410A (Puron as Carrier calls it) Also replace your refrigerant lines. Don't screw around with replacement refrigerants or you'll be sorry. Don't forget the government tax credits on high efficiency equipment. Up to $1500 on qualifying units.

Lack of techical support
written by ClaireMichaels, August 28, 2009
I spent $13.2K for a 5-ton Carrier Infinity Heat Pump with the highest SEER rating in Jan 2009.
Now it's August 09. We've been without AC for 4 (hot) weeks following an electrical problem (maybe lightning).
Carrier has been unable to offer our installer sufficient technical support to fix the unit. This is the worst customer service for one of the most expensive products I've ever bought. Ask your retailer to recommend another product.
