HVAC Contractors Don't Seal Return Ductwork
I have a few issues about this video concerning some of the things he says about HVAC contractors but I will give him credit that it is a very informative and useful video. Issue number one with this video: many people need humidifiers in their homes and businesses not only for health reasons but also for comfort factors and the wood products in their homes. If a humidifier is properly installed, used and maintained the issues discussed in this video won't occur. The key is properly installed and maintained. There are too many hacks and do it your selfers who do a crappy job and this list of hacks includes some people who walk, talk, and look like an HVAC technician. The blame for their screw ups always comes back to the ubiquitous HVAC contractor. Even those guys make mistakes but not on the scale the hacks and DIY's make them. I always say to people when bidding a job that the lowest price is not always the best because too many people want it done in the quickest and cheapest manner possible. All I can say to these people is that you get what you pay for. It slowly but surely comes back to the HVAC contractor.
The second issue i have is basically the same issue. There are jobs that get done right and there are jobs that get done wrong. Who does these jobs? Again, the ubiquitous HVAC contractor and his merry band of misfits. That is where the blame always falls even though a good, qualified and responsible HVAC contractor never even came close to the job. This good, qualified and responsible HVAC contractor plays by the rules, he gets permits for the job, he trains his professional staff and makes sure they do quality work. All of the work done is checked and sometimes double and triple checked by a Master and/or code inspector but this is the guy who gets the blame when the blanket term HVAC contractor is used.
Good video!
